Publication Policy Guidance

Publication Ethics and Procedure

Publication Ethics and Integrity is of paramount importance to us. It is necessary to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer and the publisher. It also includes a transparent procedure. Aligarh Journal of Interfaith Studies (AJIS) is committed to upholding the integrity of the work we accept and publish. The value of academic publishing relies on everyone involved behaving ethically. The following points are only intended to give a broad overview and are not exhaustive..
(a) Rules and Guidelines for Editor(s) The editor of the journal under the supervision of the Director/Publisher, is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The editor may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The Chief Editor may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.
The editor has to evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political of the authors.
Editorial Decisions should be precise. If a published paper is subsequently found to have errors or major flaws, the Editor should take responsibility for promptly correcting the written record in the publication. Quality and other performance characteristics of editors should be periodically assessed.
The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the Director/ Publisher, as appropriate.
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.
(b) Rules and Guidelines for Authors
Good research should be well justified, well planned, and appropriately designed, so that it can properly address the research question. All authors are responsible for the quality, accuracy, and ethics of the work. Republication of a paper in another language, or simultaneously in multiple journals with different audiences may be acceptance, provided that there is full and prominent disclosure of its original source at the time of submission of the article. Before submitting manuscript to Aligarh Journal of Interfaith Studies(AJIS) authors, scholars and contributors are advised to go through author guidelines, Plagiarism Policy and Publication ethics.
An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently which constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
Paper acknowledgement of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.
The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and /or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.
Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well s an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors.
The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are mentionedin the paper, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.
Authors are asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access to such data (consistent with the ALPSP-STM Statement on Data and Databases), if practicable, and should in any event be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author's obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
Plagiarism Plagiarism is the use of other's published and unpublished ideas or words (or other intellectual property) without attribution or permission, and presenting them as new and original rather than derived from an existing source. Self-plagiarism refers to he practice of an author using portions of their previous writings on the same topic in another of their publications, without specifically citing it formally in quotes. Contributors must adhere to the Plagiarism rules enforce from time to time

Process of Selection of a Paper

The journal that we publish has an Editorial Board of academics from institutions around the globe.
After you submit, a member of the board will be appointed as Handling Editor for your manuscript. This selection is based on Editors' availability and suitability, taking into account potential conflicts of interest.
Upon receiving a manuscript, the Editor has the option to reject it entirely. This may happen if it is not a good fit for the journal or of poor quality. Providing the Editor is satisfied, they will initiate the peer review process.
The Editor then appoints a number of external reviewers (Journal Reviewers). and the identifies of the reviewers are not disclosed to the author(s).
Providing they a accept the request to review the reviewers will read and assess the manuscript. They will then make one of the following recommendations:

Publish unaltered
Accept after minor changes
Accepter after major changes
Reject

Using the submitted review, the Editor is then able to make a final recommendation on the manuscript. A manuscript must be rejected if the reviewer recommended doing so.
Based on the recommendation made by the reviewers, further steps may be necessary:
Publish unaltered: The manuscript will receive a further check from Journal team for consistency. Once complete, the author will be notified of the acceptance of their manuscript.
Consider after minor changes: The author will receive feedback and be asked to submit a revised version addressing the reviewers' concerns. The Editors will check the amended manuscript and ensure the concerns have been addressed. If satisfied, the Editor can accept the manuscript.
